First of September Musings

How did it get to be the first of September? Seems like summer just started, but then again with all those days of 100+ degree heat, I am kinda glad we are moving towards a cooler time. Labor Day is on the way, and we are going to escape to the Blue Ridge Parkway for a couple of days.

I am looking forward to the mountains. We used to go as a family every Labor Day weekend to stay at either Big Meadows or Skyland. It was sort of the unofficial end to our summer, as we nearly always returned to school starting the next day. That tradition ended when Philip had football practice over the holiday weekend, so it has been a while since we have been to the mountains.

Even if traditions end, we still have memories, and no reason we can't make more.

happy Labor Day!

Traditions and Transitions

In the last eZine, there is an article about traditions and transitions during this time of year. I have already received lots of good feedback on the issue. Things will be different around our house this Christmas. I am not putting the outdoor lights around the front porch overhang. We are having a traditional evening dinner with Kevin's family, which will be new. I am still looking forward to some last few days (not last-minute!) shopping. The interior of the house looks a lot like last year, the tree has been up for weeks now.

Maybe it will snow for Christmas?
