Memorial Day Remembered
There are many ways I can think of to remember things -- post-it notes, string around your finger, pop-up reminders on your electronic calendar, and entries on your to-do list are just a few. Then there are the really big things that deserve there own holiday.
Usually on Memorial Day I have the day off from work and it is a pool day -- the official okay that summer is here and time to kick back. I have had some very memorable Memorial Day's, but not because I was remembering why we have the holiday in the first place.
So this year, I would like to celebrate in a different way. Here's my plan:
- put the memorial back in memorial day by remembering the reason for the holiday- remember families who have lost loved ones in service of their country
- pray that all the open conflicts around the world are soon resolved
Now, let me put all this into my Windows calendar, on my desk calendar, on my to-do list, and let me go find some string. I hope your Memorial Day is a celebration in rememberance, and not just a day away from work!
