(almost) Completely Focused

This week my plan was to build a garden shed. That's pretty much it. And I only have four and a half days to get the entire thing done. So I have been really focused on that task. Mostly.

I did plan what could be done in case of rain, but did not count on rain nearly every day! That simply does not happen around here.

Except when I am building a shed and only have four and a half days to get it completed.

I have learned a ton about construction with this project. And I have used some math skills that honestly have not been exercised in some time. So far the construction has gone according to plan. Philip has been helping me every day, so we are learning together.

But tomorrow is Friday, and I have still have to build and install a door, shingle a roof, and get a coat of primer coat over the entire structure. All that would be fine except I have to get to Lowe's for some lumber before I can finish the door.

And if it rains tomorrow... well I am sunk.

Oh, I leave for vacation early Saturday morning.

Time to get ultra-focused!

Peace.

Time To Have a Dream

In honor of MLK Day, I want to blog about having a dream. And not just any dream, but a really big one. What if we all had a big dream that we were pursuing... a world-changing vision that consumed us and pushed us every day.

What would life be like for you?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Let's do it!

Dream BIG!

Great Players Make Great Coaches

After watching last night's football game between Alabama and LSU, I am convinced that Les Miles (LSU head coach) was outcoached by Nick Saban of Alabama. Both teams had more than a month to prepare for this biggest game of the season. Plenty of time to get ready to face their worthy opponents. Yet Alabama focused on defense, and LSU could not muster enough offense to move the ball.

Of course, you could say that these two football factories have more than enough talent and pride to make any coach look really good. I do believe that great players make coaches look great, AND I believe great coaches make really good players even better.

It is true in sports, and true in life.

Congratulations to Alabama. Team effort all the way.

Areas of Focus for 2012

As we approach 2012, what is or are your focus area(s) for the new year? I know for me there is a new business venture ready to kick-off, and I am going to pour energy and time and focus into that endeavor. Also, I want to make sure I am reading every day or as much as I can. Both to learn and continue growing, as well as for relaxation and entertainment.

There are more things on my resolutions list, but what are yours?

Best wishes for a happy new year!

Certified Human Behavior Consultant

Just a quick note to say I have become a CHBC, Certified Human Behavior Consultant. That means I can administer DISC personality profile assessments, and work with teams and individuals to improve relationships, have better communications, resolve conflicts, improve teamwork, and increase sales effectiveness.

You will hear more about the opportunities as next year unfolds.

Mom's Progress

My Mom has made great progress recently, she has even taken a few steps. Her appetite has returned in full force, so do not get in her way when it is time to eat! This is one of those baby steps lead to return to normality type situations, and I am proud of her for working so hard at her therapy.

The worst part is that Mom and Dad have to be separated for so much of the time. After almost 65 years together they have become part of each other.

Peace.
