Where does the time go?

It took me a week and a half, but I came to the realization that I still need an automated calendar on my computer to know what I am supposed to be doing at any given moment. In corporate life, my Outlook calendar was invaluable not only to me but to others who depended on me. I tried to keep it up to date so that I knew where I was supposed to be and when.

The good news is that I can now chose to share my electronic calendar with the world, or not. Either way, it is nice to get those pesky reminders of what I am supposed to be focused on, even if it does seem like work! Maybe some disciplines do carry over into retirement.

I'd write more on the blog, but this activity was not scheduled.

peace.

Today I am a House-elf

You Harry Potter fans will remember Dobby the house-elf. Well today I am Bobby the house-elf (at least that's what Emily calls me). This morning I am baking a birthday cake for Philip's celebration, then comes the icing. Next I have to clean the laundry room floor (thanks to a really bad cat that someone can have), and take care of the laundry.

If my friends could see me now! Totally domesticated (which is way more than I can say for that cat!).

In addition to all my new-found prowess as a house-elf, I am also a really good life and executive coach. Tell your friends (about the life coach part, you can leave out the house-elf part)!

On the first day of retirement ...

... my true love gave to me -- a page and a half of things to do.

It was weird for me yesterday not going into the office after 31 and a half years of commuting to a job working for someone else in corporate America. Still I had plenty to do around the house, and council meeting and basketball game in the evening. I got a lot done, though you would not know it from the couple of small items I ticked off my true love's list!

But I survived my first day of retirement!
Supposedly now I work for myself, but my new boss is not all with it yet. Give him some time. This is a big adjustment!
