On my birthday

Happy birthday to me (thanks mom and dad)! So far it has been a fun day, though quite hot outside. I got up at 5:30 am to take Emily to Kevin's family -- they are going down to see him in Fla. It's a good thing I woke up, because she had not. So we were late getting there.
For presents I got new guitar strings, which I really needed. They are now on the Fender acoustic. And I got drill bits, which I am really excited about. And new slacks. Quite a haul, almost like Christmas in June.
I have heard from quite a few friends today already with well wishes.

It is nice to have a day to celebrate an event that I really don't remember (being born that is), and where someone else did all the work. I just kind of showed up when I was supposed to. Kind of like my surprise birthday party two years ago!

Anyway, thanks for reading, and happy birthday to me!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there. This year my gift from Emily and Philip was a duet they sang in the early church service. It was the first time they ever performed together and it was fabulous! I recorded the song on cassette, as any proud father would have done, then had to rush home to listen again.

I called my Dad on Sunday afternoon to wish him a happy father's day, and I told him about my present. I took the recording to my father-in-law in the afternoon so he could hear it.

Fatherhood. The gift that keeps on giving.

all the best!

Give and Go Basketball Camp

In this month's eZine I mentioned the Give and Go basketball camp being offered here in Richmond the week of July 21-25. This is my endorsement of that camp, meant to teach skills to your favorite 1st to 6th grader this summer. Click here to download the application form, and sign your youngster up now before they fill up.

It will be a great experience, and the cost is only $25.00 -- unbelievable!

If you have questions or want more information, send an email to Ginnie or Laura by clicking here.

Pass the word, let other parents know about this.

Give and Go!

School's Out!

The Friday the 13th in June was not unlucky at all for my high school son. Philip's only exam came on the last day of school. Now school's out for the summer. I can remember the feeling of complete euphoria when I got off the school bus on the last day of the high school year (yes, I rode the bus all four years of high school, something that would mortify either of my kids).

So here's a toast to freedom (almost)!
Here's to the class of 2009! Only one summer separates them from being seniors.
And here's to summer!

Wait 'til Philip sees the list of chores I have for him this summer.

Peace!
